Mike Puhallo is one of the most widely published cowboy poets in Canada. He has co-authored three books of cowboy poetry and cartoons with Wendy Liddle and Brian Brannon, and recently completed his fourth book with Wendy Liddle. Mike's poems have been published in numerous magazines and also found their way into his weekly newspaper column "Mike's Meadow Muffins". This poet, humourist and rancher also writes for Canadian Cowboy Country magazine as their cowboy poetry editor.

The Smell of Sage and Pine, is a recorded collection of Mike's poems now available on CD. There are 32 selections on the album including 3 songs co-written and performed by Butch Falk. The poems and songs on this album have been getting airplay on radio stations in Canada, The United States and Europe.

Mike's poems have been published in numerous magazines and also find their way into his weekly newspaper column, "Mike's Meadow Muffins". This Poet humourist and rancher, also writes for Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine,as their cowboy poetry editor.

Mike was been nominated in 1998 & 1999 by The Academy of Western Artists for the prestigous Will Rogers Awards, held in Fort Worth Texas. In 2000 He was one of the five finalist for Male Cowboy Poet of The Year.

Mike's stage performances have been well received by audiences throughout Western Canada and the north western United States. He has been a feature performer at nearly every major Cowboy Poetry gathering in Western Canada.

His poetry will reach out and touch western people where they live, through the experiences and feelings that are shared by all those who live close to the land. The reason his poetry is so "real" is simple, this cowboy has "bin there an' done that"!

Mike has been a working cowboy, a saddle bronc rider, a packer, and horse trainer. He currently ranches in partnership with his younger brother, as well as writing and painting in western oils. An avid student of the culture and history of the "real west" Mike has been instrumental in establishing The B.C. Cowboys Hall of Fame, and has served two years as president of the BC Cowboy Heritage Society.

Mike currently serves as President of both the Charley Russell Western Heritage Assn. and the BC Cowboy Heritage Society, as well as being on the board of directors for; The Academy of Western Artists, Kamloops Cattle Drive Society and the Alberta Cowboy Poets Assn.
