Mike's Meadow Muffin for June 7, 2004
The round pen is a classroom,
where we're taught, how to learn,
From the larger lessons life brings our way,
around every curve and turn.
The black filly danced and tossed her head,
At traffic speeding by,
Some drivers slow and shake their heads,
as if to ask me why ?
I ride a green horse along the highway?
Why do I risk life and limb?
Why not choose a quiet trail,
Where the risk would be quite slim?
It's the trainers job, to take that chance,
So the owner don't get throwed,
Because the only test, for a car-shy horse,
Is to ride her down the road.
