Mike's Meadow Muffin for October 17, 2005
When I was young a schoolyard brawl,
would always draw a crowd.
The mob made sure it was one on one,
and low blows weren't allowed.
I suppose we had our share of bullies then,
but it was nothing like today!
Because like our heroes on the silver screen,
we had a strong sense of fair play.
Lately Cowboy Heroes are as hard to find,
as the little country schools
Our schoolyards and our governments,
run by urban, street gang rules.
Bullies don't negotiate,
and it's hard to make a stand,
When one side gets to make the laws,
bend to their command!
