Ground Hog Day 2007

It was way back in November,

When the first big snowfall came,

Since then,

The view around our place,

Has stayed pretty much the same.

Under the spruce tree on the front lawn,

A cock pheasant and three hens,

Have been holed up for at least a month,

Waiting for the snowy spell to end,

Flickers, Jays and Chickadees,

Are at the bird feeder every day.

While the mule deer browse our shrubbery,

And share my ponies’ hay.

So that Groundhog better get it right,

And keep his shadow out of view,

I can’t afford another six weeks,

Of feeding this whole crew!
