The Letter of The Law

With one round bale in my pick up truck,

After sixty miles of  gravel road,

A Mountie wrote me a ticket,

Because I did not secure my load.

Now I had a load strap on it,

I had tied her down real tight,

So I showed up in traffic court,

I aint going down without a fight.

He conceded, I had done alright

Tying down that hay,

But claimed a little dust and chaff,

Had blown off along the way!

The Judge, she fined me eighty bucks,

Because I did not tarp that load.

And you’re guilty if one blade of grass,

Should fall upon the road!
